Why is the College raising dues for 2027?
The Board approved the dues increase for 2027 as part of the College’s 2025-27 Financial Strategy.
Under the Professional Governance Act (PGA) and International Credentials Recognition Act (ICRA), the College is required to meet statutory obligations related to registration, professional practice, investigations, discipline, and governance. The Board-approved dues increase helps support the College’s long-term financial sustainability and delivery of these regulatory responsibilities in the context of inflationary pressures.
When was the last time the College raised dues?
Dues for College registrants were last increased in 2025 for the 2026 registration year. The increase for the 2026 registration year included a $50 increase for Registered Professional Biologists and a $100 increase for Registered Biology Technologists and Applied Biology-Limited Licensees to more closely align fees across the College’s professional registrant categories, reflecting the comparable regulatory oversight required for all three designations.
Will the College increase dues again in the near future?
The Board reviews fees annually and will consider them as part of the next multi-year financial strategy.
How much do other professionals under the PGA pay for their dues?
Annual dues for many other professionals under the PGA remain higher than those of applied biology professionals, even with the 2027 increase:
